Stainless Steel:

  • Stainless Steel Sifter

1. Breaks up clumps: Matcha powder doesn't melt in water. The whisk mixes the powder evenly so your tea isn't gritty.

2. Pulls in air: The whisk has dozens of tiny bamboo prongs that act like little whips to drag air down into the liquid.

3. Smashes bubbles: Whisking back and forth in a quick "W" shape forces big air bubbles to crash into each other and break into tiny ones.

4. Creates foam: The tea's natural ingredients trap those tiny bubbles, leaving a smooth, velvety layer of foam on top.

The Bamboo Tools (Whisk & Scoop)

  • Never use soap on your bamboo tools or put them in the dishwasher.
  • The Whisk (Chasen): Rinse the tines immediately after use under a gentle stream of warm water. You can also whisk it in a bowl of clean, warm water to dislodge any hidden powder. Always store it on the stoneware holder to air dry; this helps it maintain its traditional tulip shape.
  • The Scoop (Chashaku): Keep this away from moisture! Do not wash it with water. Simply wipe it clean with a dry or very slightly damp paper towel or soft cloth after each use.

The Stoneware (Bowl, Tray & Whisk Holder)

  • Daily Cleaning: Hand wash with warm water and a mild, non-abrasive dish soap. Avoid harsh scrubbing pads that could scratch the matte glaze.
  • Prevent Thermal Shock: While stoneware is excellent at retaining heat, avoid exposing it to sudden, extreme temperature changes (e.g., pouring boiling water into an ice-cold bowl), which can cause the clay to crack.

The Stainless Steel Sieve (Furui)

  • Rinse & Dry: Rinse under warm water immediately after use to prevent matcha from hardening in the tiny mesh holes.
  • Crucial Step: Towel-dry it immediately and thoroughly. Leaving it to air-dry with water trapped in the mesh rim can lead to rust over time.
